and his wife Susan

The author has been visiting the area for 30 years and has seen it grow from a series of tiny fishing villages and sleepy hamlets to the bustling resort destination it has become today. His passion and vast knowledge of the area along with the hospitality of the local people will translate into a comfortable and enjoyable visit for the readers of these books. From his early days in the 70's, exploring the ruins and beaches of Tulum, the pyramids of Uxmal and Chichen-Itza or the quiet town of Playa Del Carmen, where one could find the ferry for Cozumel and not much else but miles of beach, his many trips here had only just begun. Before Cancun existed as a resort community, his travels brought him to the village of Puerto Juarez , just north of Cancun, where small colorful fishing boats crossed the blue waters of the Caribbean, taking travelers from across the globe to the majestic island of Isla Mujeres. Those fishing boats have now been replaced by small and comfortable ferries. While life has changed dramatically here in the Yuacatan Peninsula , now more commonly referred to as the Riviera Maya, the peace and relaxation remains. Each Local Knowledge guide has an interesting story at the end of what life was like here during those first visits.

Jackson lives in Mequon, Wisconsin with his wife Sue and their three children, Abby, Willy and Claire.
